Scott Foresman Reading Street Kindergarten

Ok I know I do not have a ton of followers, however my teammate and I have come across a dilemma today! We adopted the Pearson Reading Street Common Core Reading Series this year for our county. And We had the old Reading street prior to this adoption with an abundance of resources to use! Another county in our state had a website- Kindergarten Kove- that we received a TON of center resources, homework resources, fluency passages, etc from! I men this was the mother load of all freebies out there. BUT...there's got to be a but...today Mrs. Young came over and said "Ah, what's going on with Kindergarten Kove? It's gone!" I thought surely not its our main resource...lo and behold its gone. ****insert tears****

So my fellow bloggers...in a desperate cry for resources for my teammate and I..does anyone know good Scott Foresman Reading Street Common Core sites, blogs or free resources out there?? If so please comment or send me a personal email! My teammate and I would be forever grateful!

A classroom reveal...a little too late

My goodness y'all! I am so sorry to those of you out there who follow me! I promise I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth, I just feel like it! :) Needless to say the last 3 weeks have been a whirlwind! School  started August 19th for us and its been non stop since then! I have a super sweet, imaginative and smart bunch of Kinders this year who make each day bright! I can't wait to see where this year will take us! We're SLOWLY learning our routines and are finally rolling on Reading Street and Go Math! Whew! I must say we're so busy the day goes by so fast! I've finally got my room how I want it this year. Let me tell you, this was the first year I've ever been so indecisive and unsure of how and what to decorate with. I just today finished my reading focus wall. Here it is:
My desk area. Inspired by Schoolgirl Style.
My messy desk full of lesson plans!

View from desk.

Waterford Computers.

Smart-board area.
Word wall on the cabinets.
Back wall. I am still looking for the perfect library bin labels. Know of any?
Back wall. Math focus wall.
Reading area with my crate seats! Love!
Seasonal board and my reading focus wall!
My busy wall. Drives me nuts but it is beneficial to kids.
Rules and clipchart.

My door. And birthdays in the background.
More photos to come soon!

Completely..Utterly...Flabbergasted

So this morning after my bible study I was doing my daily Facebook/Twitter/Instagram check and my friend & coworker Lori has tagged me in a post! I thought it would be another idea for our room this year but  much to my surprise my outside crates which I use for cubbies had made the Buzzfeed for 25 Clever Classroom Tips for Elementary School Teachers! **EEEEK** Look heres the link:

WOAH! I about fell in the floor! Although I cannot take credit for the mastermind behind this awesome crates, I did hang my little Carson Dellosa Owls in them! My former co-worker (who holds a special and dear place in my heart) son-in-law put these crates up the year before I came to work at Walnut Grove. They are PHENOMENAL!  I use them for the kids to store their bookbags in so that clutter is out of the room! Sending a high-five to him for his handiwork! I get a ton of emails and comments asking where I got those and how are they put together. Well.....

Here they are! They are just the normal crates from Walmart! (Matter of fact I saw them out last week!) I don't honestly know how Emily's husband mounted them to the wall but he is a genius and did! Each year all I have to do is dust them off and replace the name tags for the theme of the year!

I was just completely...utterly...flabbergasted that my little ole' cubby crates from a blog post 3 years old made a popular teaching list! The top 25! Wow...just wow!  Thank you to Buzzfeed and the author of the article Peggy Wang for including me!

Favorite Pins Friday

Well, it's Friday again! Where did the week go? Do any of you other teacher ever feel summer flies after the 4th of July? I do. My husbands birthday is July 22nd and I always dread his birthday. That sounds horrible doesn't it? But I only dread it because I know I only have about 2-4 weeks left of vacation. Just depends on the school calendar. This year teachers go back August 12th and students return August 19th. When do you go back?

I am again linking up with The First Grade Parade for her Favorite Pins Friday! I hope to find some new bloggers through these linky parties I am participating in. This is the year I want to get my blog out there!! I also want to start creating units and items to sell. If you have any tips or ideas I'd love to hear from you!!

Favorite GIFTS for ME pins:

I have a pin board labeled GIFTS FOR ME. Yes, that may seem conceited. I consider it prime opportunity for my husband to view and buy me a little surprise or two. Ha!

Monogrammed Rain Jacket. Uhm...LOVE. I do not have a rain jacket and I am on car rider duty EVERY DAY. I usually get soaked on rainy days. This would be FABULOUS to have. Plus who doesn't love coral and a monogram?

Chevron Teacher Bag. Chevron...that's the only word needed here. Every teacher has her "bag." The bag she carries everywhere yet still seems to stay in the car overnight when you bring it home. I mean not that I do that often or anything. I do NOT love the red color but would love to have this bag in either hot pink or turquoise/aqua color!

Favorite Teaching Pins:
We all know its inevitable that we'll get those 2 kids the week of school that roll in after phase-in days and parent night. Or those that transfer mid year. I found myself scrambling last year for extra beginning of year copies and items for the new child. THIS IS THE ANSWER to all my problems. My teammate shared this pin with me yesterday afternoon and I was so pumped!

Picture Books Linky Party. I've been following the picture book linky party on Bloglovin' lately. I love these books for the first 2 weeks of school. Last year our whole year was based around Pete the Cat. So excited he's coming out with several new books this year!

Favorite Foodie Pins:
I've always wanted to make popsicles or fruit bars. This recipe popped up on my feed the other day I thought YUM! They sound so refreshing. I am going to the grocery store today. These will be on my list!

Ok. I'm not a donut lover. "GASPS* But this was too cute not to pin. If I have another dessert party soon, these will be on my table!

Favorite My Style Pin:
I just love this.  Love the whole thing. I want this, desperately for school. Good for fall.spring.winter.

Favorite Crafty Pins:

Ok. Love. There's only one word for this. LOVE. I would do this in grey for my bedroom/bathroom remodel. Easy, easy craft.

I want this wreath so bad for my door at school. I don't think I'd change a thing about this wreath except put an O where the J is. It screams my room all over it. Ahh..

I could sit here and tell you all about my favorite things all day. But im off to layout in my pool while its actually not raining in Alabama! Whoo hoo!!

Happy Friday All!!

Erin Condren Giveaway

Oh my word. Tori's Teacher Tips is having a giveaway for 800 followers. I don't have that many followers, but for those of you who are reading this. CHECK. IT. OUT. Have you ever heard of Erin Condren? I hadn't until I started blogging and Pinterest-ing. And oh-m-gee, I drool over her teacher planner. I want one so, so bad but can't pay $59 for one currently. I've entered a few giveaways for one and haven't won. I am praying and crossing my fingers this one is IT! I would probably faint if I won this! Seriously, check out Erin Condren's website. You'll be drooling and wanting a planner too!

The Alphabet Letter Exchange

I was going through my normal morning flim through Bloglovin' reel and saw where First Grade Found Me is having an Alphabet Letter Exchange!

Each teacher is responsible for 1 letter of the alphabet. You make 26 and send out 25 to other schools across the US. Then you in return receive the other 25 letters of the alphabet. I already have a display in mind for receiving our letters!! This is going to be so great for the first 2-3 months in K when alphabet is our main focus!! I even got my teammate Brooke to do it as well!! Can't wait for our Kinders to participate!

Favorite Pins Friday Linky Party

On my morning Facebook re-cap I saw where Cara from The First Grade Parade was hosting a Favorite Pins Friday Link Party. I dont' blog much (which I desire to be an avid blogger, with all these wonderful homemade classroom products like everyone else) but I thought this would be a good opportunity to get my butt back in gear on blogging.

I know my husband really appreciates me getting on Pinterest each night when we lay down to watch "I Love Lucy" episodes but I would have to say that I am addicted to Pinterest and pinning. I've printed a ton of things for my classroom this year thanks to a summer full of pinning!
Here are some of my weekly favorites I've pinned:

Favorite Teaching Pins:
Kindergarten Question of the Day. This is such a good idea for morning meeting or for kids to go to when they are done with their must do center activity.

I loved this set up so much that I printed my own hand signals and went and bought this exact Happy Birthday chart. I love the way A Cupcake for the Teacher set up her room last year. I am currently trying to make mine look as amazing as hers did!!

I want this tshirt so bad for next year from www.teachershirts.com! They are only $15. Gonna talk my teammate into getting these for the first week of school!

Favorite Home Pins:
My craft room is slowly going to look like this. I found of the shelves at Michael's Crafts the other day on clearance for $29.99.  When we put it up my husband said we've gotta repaint your table and other shelves to be white! I can't wait to get my craft room looking like this!

I am re-doing our bathroom/bedroom in these colors and have been unable to find yellow and grey bathroom decor. My friend Amanda sent me this pin the other night and I about fainted. I love it! I am hoping to get rolling on the re-decorating soon!

I want to paint this to sit on my floating shelf in my bedroom. Constant reminder of how much our Jesus loves us.

Favorite My Style Pins:
I am so in love with this top. I have a obsession love of polka dots. This top would go great with white pants and my gold Origami Owl necklace. Perfect first week outfit!

Besides the whole outfit being adorable. My favorite part is the necklace! I can't wear much jewelry due to a Nickel allergy but this would be FANTASTIC to have. Love love <3 .

This pretty much sums up my vocabulary daily. There's never a "you all" it's always "y'all wanna do this? y'all gotta see this!" True Alabama Gal, needing this shirt!

Favorite Foodies:

Homemade Spinach & Artichoke Alfredo Pizza.
Yum x4. I can't eat tomatoes or any kind of tomato based sauces due to stomach issues and my husband and I happen to love pizza. Him especially. I found this recipe this week and I'm hoping our love of Spinach & Artichoke Dip and Pizza will collide well with this dish.

Buster Bar Dessert. That's the only 3 words you need to hear. My neighbor made this the other evening and invited me over. I thought I was in hot fudge heaven. This is so good. So good that I made 2- 9x13 pans of it. One for my parents 4th celebration yesterday and one for dinner with friends Monday night. I seriously have to stay away from my freezer knowing this is in it. I could lick all the hot fudge off the top in one sitting. Yum.

I could give you about 800 more pins that are my favorites but that would take you forever to read. I look forward to finding new Pins thanks to everyone's favorites! Happy Friday!
